The “Secure and Effective Borders in the Carpathian Region” project enhances border management between Ukraine and Hungary by addressing critical challenges in security, control procedures, and institutional cooperation. It aims to establish a sustainable professional exchange between customs and border institutions and to align Ukrainian practices with European Union standards.
Key objectives include the modernisation of border crossing infrastructure, the synchronisation of border and customs services, and the strengthening of technological and institutional capacities. Activities will include feasibility studies for infrastructure upgrades, training and seminars for personnel, expert meetings, and joint development of IT systems and documentation in relation of corssing points (e.g. Kosyno-Barabash).
Through comparative legal analysis, technology acquisition, and knowledge exchange, the project will reduce border control times, improve operational efficiency, and reinforce security. It contributes directly to safer and more efficient mobility while fostering long-term cooperation between border authorities on both sides.
