Science in Schools – Live

On June 20, 2025, an interactive workshop took place at the Ján Amos Komenský Grammar School in Košice as part of the cross-border project Effuse-Win with Ukraine. The event was intended for students of lower grades and offered them a unique opportunity to explore the world of science and nature through live model organisms. More than 40 fourth-year students from bilingual classes participated in the event.

Students had the opportunity to closely observe cockroaches, stick insects, spiders, scorpions, a turtle, lizards, and snakes. They learned about their role in scientific research, their biological peculiarities, and their importance in natural ecosystems. The experience of direct contact with the animals was complemented by interesting facts that are not commonly found in textbooks.

The workshop was led by Dr. Igor Majláth, who engagingly connected theory with practice and showed students that science can also be fun and full of adventure.
