Project Results:
The overall objective of the project is to increase the preparedness and resilience of Satu Mare County and Ivano-Frankivsk Region to natural hazards such as floods, droughts, extreme temperatures, landslides and ice jams on rivers, as well as man-made disasters such as industrial disasters and forest fires.

The Romanian National Red Cross Society Satu Mare Branch is implementing the project in partnership with the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Organization of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society. The overall objective of the project is to increase the preparedness and resilience of Satu Mare County and Ivano-Frankivsk Region to natural hazards such as floods, droughts, extreme temperatures, landslides and ice jams on rivers, as well as man-made disasters such as industrial disasters and forest fires, by establishing 6 disaster response detachments and training 480 adults in first aid and 10,000 children in the fields of first aid and disaster prevention and response.

The specific objectives of the project are:

1. Increasing preparedness and resilience in Satu Mare County and Ivano-Frankivsk Region to natural hazards by establishing 6 disaster response detachments, 3 detachments in Satu Mare County and 3 detachments in Ivano-Frankivsk Region.

2. Increasing preparedness and resilience in Satu Mare County and Ivano-Frankivsk Region to natural hazards by training 480 adults in first aid and 10,000 children in first aid and disaster prevention and response.

3. Increasing preparedness and resilience in Satu Mare County and Ivano-Frankivsk Region to natural hazards by training 30 adolescents in trauma makeup in a 5-day joint camp.

The expected results of the project are:

1. Establishment of 6 disaster response detachments. Within the project, 6 disaster response detachments will be established: 3 detachments in 3 localities of Satu Mare County and 3 detachments in 3 localities of Ivano-Frankivsk Region. Each detachment will consist of 12 members. Members of each detachment will be trained in: first aid, psychological support and disaster prevention and intervention.

2. 480 adults trained in first aid. Within the project, 480 adults will be trained in first aid: 240 adults in Satu Mare County and 240 adults in Ivano-Frankivsk Region.

3. 10,000 children trained in first aid and disaster prevention and response: 5,000 children in Satu Mare County and 5,000 children in Ivano-Frankivsk Region.

4. 30 teenagers trained in trauma makeup in a joint camp – 15 teenagers from Satu Mare County and 15 teenagers from Ivano-Frankivsk Region will be trained in trauma makeup in a joint 5-day camp.

5. A joint exercise implemented. After the establishment and training of the 6 disaster response detachments, a joint exercise will be organized in Satu Mare County.
