The project Bridging Borders by Culture (BBC) has successfully brought together four communities—Baia Sprie (Romania), Dolyna (Ukraine), Ózd (Hungary), and Rožňava (Slovakia)—to revitalize cultural identity, promote sustainable tourism, and foster inclusive cross-border cooperation through shared artistic, educational, and community-based experiences. Implemented under Priority 2.2 of the Interreg NEXT HUSKROUA Programme, the project addresses common challenges of cultural disconnection, underexploited tourism potential, and insufficient youth engagement in the Carpathian region.
The project tackles these issues through a comprehensive work plan featuring 10 cultural and educational events, 2 international sports tournaments, and strategic communication and visibility measures. Key project outcomes include increased participation in joint actions, the establishment of new cross-border partnerships (4 organizations), and the creation of durable cultural assets such as videos, brochures, and info panels. All activities are implemented with a strong focus on accessibility, inclusivity, and sustainability.

Crafts and Gastronomic Workshops in Baia Sprie, where artisans and youth explored traditional crafts like pottery, weaving, and icon painting, alongside culinary demonstrations of heritage recipes.

A four-day Painting Camp, hosting artists from all partner countries to foster artistic exchange and community engagement, concluding with a public exhibition.

Cultural Workshops and Exhibitions in Dolyna, including ethnic doll and jewelry making, artist showcases, and an art therapy program promoting emotional well-being and integration through art.

The Ózd Industrial Heritage Conference, with presentations and excursions on sustainable reuse of post-industrial spaces, supported by a virtual platform accessible via QR codes.

A vibrant Craftspeople’s Market in Ózd, combining demonstrations, hands-on activities, and artisan fairs that encouraged local economic development and knowledge exchange.

Two international football tournaments—in Baia Sprie and Rožňava—brought together young athletes and sports professionals for cultural discovery, regional history education, and competitive friendship.
