The traffic survey is designed as a two‑sided, complementary data‑collection effort, reflecting local conditions on both sides of the border.
On the Slovak side, traffic flows will be captured through the installation of automated traffic‑counting cameras on selected road sections. This method provides precise, continuous data on traffic volumes, vehicle composition, and daily variations, forming a solid quantitative foundation for further analysis.
On the Ukrainian side, data will be collected through a socio‑demographic survey focused on residents of the border area. The survey offers valuable qualitative insight into travel behaviour, trip purposes, mobility frequency, and key socio‑economic factors influencing cross‑border movement.
Together, these approaches create a rich and balanced picture of mobility in the Slovak–Ukrainian border region, combining hard data with human perspectives to support well‑grounded, future‑oriented transport planning.
