Today, March 20, the second opening event of the Planning4U project took place in Satu Mare, Romania, following its initial launch in Hungary. This event reaffirmed the commitment of project partners to fostering cross-border cooperation in the Hungary-Romania-Ukraine border region.
Coordinated by the Research Institute for National Strategy, the project brings together key partners from the three participating countries, including the Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association (ADI Satu Mare County), the Szabolcs-Szatmár-Bereg County Council, the Tisza European Territorial Association, and the Association of Local Authorities of the Border Region of Transcarpathia. With a total budget of EUR 600,327.63, the project is implemented under the Interreg VI-A NEXT Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine 2021-2027 Programme, running from January 1, 2025, to December 31, 2026.
The Planning4U project tackles key challenges in the border region, particularly those stemming from Ukrainian administrative reforms, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the ongoing Russian-Ukrainian conflict. By developing strategic plans and impact studies, the project aims to strengthen economic and social ties among the three nations while supporting Ukraine’s path toward EU accession.
A key role in the project is played by the Satu Mare County Intercommunity Development Association, which is responsible for updating development strategies for three border municipalities in Satu Mare County. These strategies focus on fostering sustainable local development, enhancing institutional cooperation with Hungarian and Ukrainian counterparts, and equipping local authorities with the tools needed to secure European funding for future initiatives. Additionally, the association is tasked with preparing a report on the impact of the war on border regions and conducting training sessions on project management and public procurement.
Through these efforts, the Planning4U project contributes to regional growth by empowering local communities, fostering international partnerships, and leveraging cross-border cooperation opportunities. Stay tuned for further updates on the project’s progress and impact.
