Maramureș County Council organized, on 17 June 2026, the conference of the project “4_SAFE – Strengthening Adaptive Frameworks for Enhanced Preparedness and Resilience against Natural and Human-Made Hazards”, project code HUSKROUA/23/L/1.1/002.
The project is financed under the Interreg NEXT Hungary–Slovakia–Romania–Ukraine Programme 2021–2027, Priority 1 – “A resilient and green border region”, and aims to strengthen preparedness and emergency response capacity, as well as to increase the resilience of communities in the Romania–Ukraine cross-border area.
The event marked the official presentation of the 4_SAFE project, the main planned investments, and the activities to be implemented within the cross-border partnership.
The agenda of the event included presentations from the project partners: Maramureș County, as Lead Partner, The Main Department of State Emergency Service of Ukraine in Transcarpathian Region, as Partner 1, and Maramureș Emergency Situations Inspectorate “Gheorghe Pop de Băsești”, as Partner 2.
During the event, the project objectives, planned investments, cross-border cooperation activities, as well as measures for climate change adaptation and increasing the resilience of local communities were presented.
The event also included a visit to the future site of the County Training Centre for Emergency Management, located at no. 2,Project presentation LB__RO_CJMM Avram Iancu Street, Baia Mare Municipality. Participants also visited the Integrated Coordination and Intervention Management Centre – COMAND, an objective implemented within the HUSKROUA Programme.
Through the 4_SAFE project, the partners aim to develop a sustainable framework for preparedness, prevention and response to natural and human-made hazards, contributing to safer and more resilient communities in the cross-border area.
