After the initial methodological phase, the OTRACON SK–UA project has moved decisively into practical implementation. Project partners have focused on concrete analytical tasks and technical cooperation that underpin high-quality transport planning in the Slovak–Ukrainian border region.
A key achievement has been the harmonisation of traffic survey methodologies with Ukrainian partners. Aligning data collection approaches is essential for ensuring comparability and for enabling the joint use of data in transport modelling and strategic analyses.
These efforts are closely linked to the ongoing update of the transport model of Eastern Slovakia, administered by IDS Východ, s.r.o. for the Košice and Prešov Self-Governing Regions. The model is gradually being enriched with new datasets from infrastructure managers, providing a robust analytical basis for assessing traffic flows and future investment needs.
Regular expert meetings have complemented these activities, helping to connect analytical outputs with real territorial needs. Through continuous coordination and data-driven work, the project is steadily translating expert knowledge into practical solutions for improved cross-border mobility.
