Perechyn (Ukraine) and Sobranice (Slovakia) have officially launched the cross-border project “Healthy Future – Joint Activities of Perchyn and Sobranice to Strengthen Health.” The project aims to modernize medical facilities in both cities, with a total budget of €476,300 (€428,670 funded by the EU), under the Interreg VI-A NEXT Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine 2021-2027 Programme.
The launch event featured speeches from local officials, including Perchyn Mayor Ivan Pohorilyak, who emphasized the importance of renovating the city hospital’s pediatric department. The new department will focus on treating children with hyperactivity, neuroses, and stress-related disorders. The project will also expand the hospital’s capacity with 25 beds in newly renovated rooms.
The signing of the partnership agreement in October 2024 set the stage for the project, which is expected to complete by December 2026. Key activities include the renovation of 377 sq.m. and the purchase of medical equipment, such as a dynamic verticalizer and ultrasound therapy devices, for both hospitals.
Sobranice Mayor Jan Sklyar highlighted the project’s significance for the region, with plans to upgrade healthcare infrastructure, improve patient care, and facilitate physician exchanges between the two cities. This collaboration marks a milestone in the long-standing partnership between Perechyn and Sobranice, which has been active for over 20 years.
