The INCLUSIV.EDU – Towards an Inclusive Intercultural Educational System in the Cross-Border Area project officially launched with two key events, marking the beginning of an exciting initiative aimed at enhancing inclusive education and intercultural understanding in the Satu Mare – Bereg – Zakarpattia cross-border region.
On February 18, 2025, the Intercommunity Development Association hosted the launch conference in Satu Mare, Romania. This event was focused on strengthening cooperation between educators and students from Romania, Hungary, and Ukraine. During the conference, the project’s objectives, key activities, and expected outcomes were presented. Notable initiatives discussed included teacher workshops, student camps, and the development of a multilingual guide on intercultural education to promote diversity and inclusion in schools.
On March 14, 2025, the “Edelweiss” Charitable Foundation from Ukraine also held a launch event in Uzhhorod, presenting the Ukrainian leg of the project. The event emphasized key activities in Ukraine, such as inclusive summer camps, seminars for parents and children, and the development of a curriculum for preschool education of Roma children. Cultural activities and a public campaign on tolerance will also be organized in local schools to foster understanding among different nationalities and ethnic groups.
The project aims to improve the quality of inclusive education across the cross-border region by promoting mutual learning and collaboration between educational institutions. With a total budget of EUR 299,944.26, the project is funded by the European Union through the Interreg VI-A NEXT Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programme.
