As part of the cross-border project “DRANICA.24 – Promoting the Immaterial Wooden Heritage of the Carpathian Euroregion. A Technical Handbook for Traditional Woodworking” (Project Ref: HUSKROUA/23/RS/2.2/021), we are organizing the 5th technical workshop.
The event is scheduled for July 9, 2026, in Iza village, Khust District, Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine, together with craftspeople Volodymyr and Mariia Lenyo.
The workshop will explore the intricate art and technical aspects of wicker weaving.
The DRANICA.24 project is dedicated to safeguarding the intangible wooden heritage of the Carpathian region. By systematically collecting, documenting and disseminating traditional knowledge, the initiative bridges academic research with active community engagement. Its core objective is to ensure that traditional woodworking endures not merely as historical documentation, but as a living and vibrant cultural practice.
The workshop will serve as a collaborative hub, bringing together researchers, heritage experts, master craftspeople and regional cooperation practitioners.
This is a technical workshop addressed to a specialized audience and is not intended for the general public.
The workshop is organized and coordinated by the project partner State University “Uzhhorod National University”, located at 46 Pidhirna Street, Uzhhorod 88000, Zakarpattia Oblast, Ukraine.
