The HealthGuard (HGuard) project aims to improve the accessibility and quality of healthcare services and emergency response capacities in the border regions of Ukraine and Romania. The initiative responds to common health-related vulnerabilities—particularly the management of infectious diseases and emergency care—in these cross-border areas.
Through coordinated cross-border actions, HealthGuard will:
-
Upgrade medical infrastructure in key healthcare facilities;
-
Provide modern diagnostic and treatment equipment to enhance service delivery;
-
Organise specialised training programmes to build the professional capacity of healthcare staff;
-
Foster institutional cooperation and knowledge sharing between Romanian and Ukrainian medical institutions.
By addressing both structural and professional gaps, the project supports the creation of a resilient and cooperative public health network that can better respond to infectious disease threats and emergencies, ultimately benefiting the health and safety of local communities on both sides of the border.
