CARPATH-SHIELD aims to protect Carpathian forests (RO–UA–SK–HU) from bark beetle (Ips typographus) outbreaks through regional monitoring and prevention. The project will establish a cross-border network, conduct GIS-based monitoring on 50 ha, and organize six workshops for 300 participants on pest prevention using nature-based solutions. It will produce a digital toolkit and regional study report to guide sustainable, bioeconomy-based forest management, benefiting 5,000 local residents and enhancing biodiversity resilience across the Carpathians.
