Project idea description in English |
Education for sustainable development teaches critical thinking, problem-solving, and long-term oriented decision making. Networks connecting universities, research centers, policy makers, and communities will promote collaboration and knowledge sharing for sustainability. Increasing environmental knowledge through education and research networks is vital. Shared environmental knowledge can help societies make informed, evidence-based decisions about issues like climate change, biodiversity, conservation, and green technologies. Hands-on sustainability labs and field research stations facilitate interdisciplinary, solution-oriented work. Active cooperation within the network created as part of the project will benefit the target groups, which are students of primary, secondary and higher schools, through them mediated entire communities, and last but not least, stakeholders. We will aim at clarifying the current state of biodiversity, identifying areas and sites in need of protection, and identifying the main negative factors that lead to a violation of the natural balance, loss of biodiversity, and invasion of alien species of fauna and flora in the Latorytsia River basin. We will create information content about the state of biodiversity, the causes of its loss, and propose a number of solutions to improve the situation. We will change the idea of responsibility for making economic decisions that have negative consequences for nature. Such phenomena are common in Ukraine in times of war, when the monetization of natural resources is often placed above environmental well-being. We expect to receive multidisciplinary scientific information on the state of the Latorytsia basin.Project is based on communication-collaboration platform where all involved groups understand the importance and to manage natural assets and biodiversity, ecological approaches and networks. Inquiry education is one of important innovative learning approach in the implemented in the project.
