Project idea description in English |
The Mukachevo Territorial Community includes over 13,000 students, among whom 917 are internally displaced persons (IDPs) who were forced to leave their homes due to the war and have found refuge in our city. We provide them with support in socialization and adaptation, particularly through access to quality educational services. One of the largest educational institutions is Mukachevo Lyceum No. 11, which has 1,114 students, including 136 IDPs. The lyceum houses an indoor swimming pool, which has been out of operation for a long time but has great potential to become a rehabilitation space for hundreds of children and youth.
The project aims to ensure equal access to quality water rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities, children with special educational needs, and internally displaced persons. The modernization of the indoor swimming pool with a focus on inclusion and barrier-free access will create a sustainable, functional infrastructure with a service life of more than 5 years. Given the large number of potential users, the implementation of this project is a strategic social investment that will have a long-term positive impact on the physical health, psychosocial adaptation, and integration of vulnerable groups in the life of the community. We have developed a project initiative entitled “Aqua Recovery Space: An Inclusive Water Space for Rehabilitation, Sports, and Integration,” which aims to provide equal access to physical activity, social inclusion, and therapeutic support by creating an adapted sports infrastructure, with a special focus on water rehabilitation for persons with disabilities, IDPs, and other socially vulnerable groups in the border communities. We are also open to cooperation under other projects, particularly in the healthcare sector, which is one of our priorities. Current needs include the capital repair of the first and basement floors of the Perinatal Center, which is especially important due to the high influx of IDPs; improvement of the territory of the municipal non-commercial enterprise “St. Martin’s Hospital”; facade renovation of the maternity building with the introduction of energy-efficient solutions; and reconstruction of the feldsher-obstetric station with further reorganization into a general practice — family medicine clinic. We aim to create accessible, modern, and resilient medical infrastructure for the entire community, with special attention to the needs of socially vulnerable groups, and believe that cross-border partnerships are a key tool in achieving these goals. We are open to organizing a joint online or offline meeting for further discussion of the partnership, budget structure approval, and coordination of the preparation of application materials.
