Position Paper on the Improvement of Interreg Cross-Border Cooperation Programmes Post-2027

Presents strategic recommendations for enhancing the impact, efficiency, and inclusivity of CBC programmes. Based on surveys conducted among stakeholders and citizens across Interreg VI-A Hungary-Slovakia, Interreg VI-A IPA Hungary-Serbia, and Interreg VI-A NEXT Hungary-Slovakia-Romania-Ukraine Programmes, the paper highlights key thematic priorities. The findings emphasize simplifying administrative processes, improving funding flexibility, and fostering people-to-people cooperation as critical to unlocking the full potential of cross-border initiatives. The document also proposes transformative projects and policy changes to address shared challenges and leverage regional opportunities effectively.
